One 60-day journey through Australia is being halted in the wake of the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but parted ways from the party for a pause. The liner left without her and returned several hours later after the ship staff realised the passenger was unaccounted for.

An extensive search operation found her person the subsequent day.

Authorities are investigating the incident, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer said that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the rest of the journey had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and previous mechanical issues".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to organize the return journeys of the travelers via private aircraft".

Authorities also published an revised communication, and said they had "provided a notice to the Captain" banning any new passengers from getting on the ship.

"Officials suggested her to go back, without accompaniment. Then the vessel sailed away, seemingly without performing a passenger count.

In a statement, the Chief Executive verified that the organization was "working closely with officials to aid their investigation".

He stated that the organization was "extremely apologetic that this has transpired" and had extended its complete assistance to the loved ones.
