Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
